It's a Boy!

Well, not ours--we still don't know the gender of our bubba dean. But my sister Lizzie and her husband Josiah--possibly the two coolest people we know--just learned that they're having a boy!

Here's how they found out. L and J asked their ultrasound technician to write down the baby's sex on a slip of paper and seal it in an envelope.

After the appointment, Lizzie drove to her favorite bakery (yes, she has a favorite bakery! Brown's Bakery in Oklachusetts City!), handed the baker the envelope, and asked him to make a cake dyed to match the baby's gender--blue for a boy, pink for a girl--and then frost over it to make it a surprise.

She picked up the cake on a Friday afternoon and then threw a dinner party for our parents and her in-laws. The plan was to cut the cake after dinner, but they couldn't wait. They decided to cut the cake and then eat dinner. It's a boy!

Bo's eyes reflect the evening's excitement. Blue! Arf! Blue!
